2013 NYS ABPRL Caucus Weekend
SHARE Attends the The New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus
On the weekend of February 15-17, SHARE participated in the annual The New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus in Albany, New York. The yearly event involves a full weekend of activities that includes: a Chairman’s Reception, Business Expo, Labor Luncheon, Seminars, Concerts, Awards Ceremony, and a Scholarship Benefit Gala.
The event was also an opportunity to discuss many issues that affect Hispanic communities such as: Education, Health, Family Welfare, Immigration, Justice and Legal Services, Women’s Issues, Environmental Justice, and the assistance of MWBE’s.
SHARE Board President, Frank T. Fraley, stated, “Now more than ever, our participation in these types of events is paramount because it is here that we must discuss the needs of the New York City community. Not only do we need to
engage our elected officials in their district, but also here in Albany where many of the decisions are made and discussed.”
SHARE Executive Director, Yonel Letellier Sosa, concluded, “Hurricane Sandy Relief, Hydraulic Fracturing and Nuclear Energy are some of the big energy debates that are being discussed here in Albany on a daily basis, and we must be part of that conversation.”
