What is SHARE?
SHARE, (Safe, Healthy, Affordable and Reliable Energy), is a non-profit coalition of organizations committed to ensuring the continued supply of reliable, clean and affordable electricity for all New Yorkers. High electricity prices have placed an undue economic burden on New York families and businesses, while poor air quality has led to high asthma rates which place our most vulnerable at risk. SHARE, and its member organizations, are committed to working with local stakeholders in the New York metropolitan area to address these problems and provide all New Yorkers with the clean and affordable power they deserve.

On November 17th, the RecordOnline published an article titled “Thyroid-cancer rates highest near Indian Point, article says.” However, the science used to obtain the conclusions within the article the RecordOnline reported on has been widely discredited with even Westchester County’s Health Commissioner referring to the author’s work as “junk science.” Therefore, SHARE wrote a Letter to the Editor of the RecordOnline.com explaining why the articles conclusions are unsupported and its alarmist results are to be disregarded.
SHARE Responds to Op-Ed in the Albany Times Union
On November 10th, the Albany Times Union published an Op-Ed by Joseph Mangano which asserts that nuclear power, and the Indian Point Energy Center specifically, puts public health at risk. However, those familiar with nuclear power know this is rhetoric and that reality is substantially different than the rhetoric contained in Mr. Mangano’s article. SHARE’s Executive Director, Craig Wilson, responds,explaining how in reality nuclear power is a boon to public health.
